Originally founded by Ed Ruby in 1952, Ruby Construction Company was incorporated to take advantage of the booming construction industry in the Kentucky area to engage in public utility work and heavy construction.

In the late 1960s, Ruby Construction relocated to Georgia to expand its expertise in the construction industry, eventually forming and incorporating Ruby-Collins Inc. (RC) in August of 1970 as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ruby Construction Company.

Today, Ruby-Collins, Inc. is an employee-owned general contractor headquartered in Georgia that performs construction services for a wide variety of clients throughout the United States.

RC has a principal location in Atlanta, Georgia and strategically-placed regional offices on the southern coast of Georgia and the northern coast of South Carolina.

Ruby-Collins has been a highly respected member of the construction industry for more than 50 years, completing over $2 billion in water and wastewater contracts, including the construction of water and wastewater treatment facilities, water, sewer, and stormwater pipelines, pump stations, pipe rehabilitation, tunnels, and other related heavy civil work. The company continues to be a top leader in the industry and repeatedly has been named one of the top contractors in the Southeast by Engineering News Record (ENR).

Our Leadership

Ruby-Collins, Inc. is led by a team of experts in the construction industry with vast experience in the construction of water and wastewater treatment plants; water, sewer and storm drains; pump stations; pipe rehabilitation; tunnels; box culvert projects; and site development. The company prides itself in its broad project expertise and great supplier relationships which work synergistically to provide its clients with a superb and highly efficient final product. It is for this reason that Ruby-Collins has a large number of repeat clients in both individual projects and long-term service contracts.

Corporate Safety + Risk Control

The team at Ruby-Collins is very proud of its commitment to safety, which meets or exceeds what is expected in the heavy civil industry. The safety of every single person on every job site is the main focus every day. The commitment to sending our team home better than how they came in each day is what defines the company’s culture. While this desire to enhance the life of every person touches every aspect of Ruby-Collins, it is most tangible from the perspective of physical safety.

Ruby-Collins continuously and actively looks for areas of improvement by utilizing innovative control measures and focusing on an employee-centered approach to safety. Our goal at Ruby-Collins is to eliminate all incidents including personal injury, property damage, and utility line disruption. The Ruby-Collins safety team is committed to a robust and engaging onboard training process as well as ongoing site inspections that focus on employee engagement through feedback, immediate coaching, and prevention of at-risk conditions/behaviors that create potential for serious incidents. The formula for growing and improving safety culture requires constant participation and commitment from every employee. That commitment has resulted in excellent safety numbers for the company but, more importantly, in healthy and happy employees who stay at the company for life and recruit other great members of the community who do the same.

Community Involvement

At Ruby-Collins, we believe in making a positive impact beyond the products and services we offer. We are committed to being an integral part of the communities where we operate. We understand the importance of giving back, and that’s why we actively support local causes and initiatives that align with our values. Whether it’s sponsoring community events, contributing to local charities, or partnering with non-profit organizations, we strive to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those around us. Additionally, our employees are at the heart of our community involvement efforts. We encourage and empower them to get involved in volunteer activities that resonate with their passions and interests. From mentoring programs to environmental cleanups, our team is dedicated to creating positive change. Ruby-Collins is involved with a number of local organizations including Sweep the Hooch with the Chattahoochee Riverkeeper program, Sunshine on a Ranney Day, Xcel Georgia, City of Refuge, and many other worthy local organizations.  These initiatives represent the values of our team and are a large part of who we are culturally – a team dedicated to serving others.

Ruby-Collins is comprised of a team of colleagues committed to both individual and industry growth. The company treats its employees as its most valuable assets and strives continuously to provide opportunities to each employee to grow, learn, and advance both within the industry and in life more globally. Additionally, the leadership at Ruby-Collins understands and supports a positive work-life balance with a strong focus on both the physical and emotional well-being of each employee. This level of commitment to the well-being of its employees and their families is reflected by the incredible benefits package that is provided to every employee from corporate leadership in the office to skilled workers in the field. For these reasons and more, Ruby-Collins has been included in the “Top Places to Work” since 2020.
