Old Alabama Road 48″ Water Pipe Relocation

Design, Installation and Commissioning to relocate approximately 5,300 linear feet of 48-inch water main pipeline from out of the GA 400 Right of Way to along the west side of Old Alabama Road from the Chattahoochee River, to the intersection of Market Boulevard and Raintree Drive.

Features of the project include:

  • Design Development form 30% bridging documents to 100% Issued for Construction
  • Permitting through five distinct entities
  • Coordination of Owner Furnished Materials
  • Public Outreach and Community Communications
  • Rock Fracturing and Removal
  • Tunneling under 10’ square storm culvert remaining in service
  • Relocation of 60” Storm Drain service from round culvert in roadway to open channel adjacent to road
  • Chattahoochee River streambank restoration
  • National Park Service work coordination
  • New pipe hydrostatic testing, disinfection, and commissioning
  • 48” Flow through linestop bypass and tie-in while forcemain service remains continuous
  • Abandonment of approximately 5000 LF of existing 48” water line with cellular grout

The project experienced significant excessive rain, conflict with unmarked utilities, failure in the existing forcemain and contaminated soils that increased the overall schedule. The project finished under the Owner’s budgeted cost.
